Valve is putting Team Fortress 2 for free-play all week long to celebrate the release of the biggest, most ambitious update in the history of Team Fortress 2.
Also the website for the game got a revamp. Lets see what team got to say about the upcoming update:
We’ve got a lot to announce as we get closer to the update’s release this Thursday, June 23rd. We’ve been holding one of the surprises pretty close to the vest for months now. We don’t want to ruin it, but we’ll give you four clues to get you guessing:
1.) It IS a “Meet the” short.
2.) It involves ONE of the two remaining classes.
Let the speculation begin! While you’re puzzling that out, why not click over to the first of our class pack announcements: Mobster Monday. To make sure everything was as accurate as possible, we went deep undercover at the most Italian place we could find, The Olive Garden. We asked the Mafia about a million questions, none of which they understood, because our mouths were full of all the free breadsticks the Mafia gives you when you visit them (they’re not such bad guys).
All that hanging out with mob guys must have rubbed off on us, because we’ve decided to celebrate the Über Update by giving you an offer you can’t (or at least shouldn’t) refuse–an unprecedented WEEK-LONG FREE WEEKEND of Team Fortress 2, starting right now!
The popular ‘Last Stand’ co-operative mode from Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2 will be made available as a stand-alone downloadable title tomorrow. It will be available as a download for 10$ on Steam.
We saw this as a unique opportunity to introduce new players to the Dawn of War franchise as well as expanding the player base for the already popular Last Stand mode.
TF2Maps.net presented us a new pack called: SWAMP! There are numerous assets included in download, which will help you build cool muddy swamp maps. Alongside the assets there are 4 maps included.
You can download and find all the information about the pack on the official TF2Maps.net Swamp page.
The second annual Halloween special is upon us. For the first time, there is a NPC mini-boss in Team Fortress 2. In the new map – Mann Manor, The Horseless Headless Horsemann spares no one. Mann Manor is a spooky “attack/defend map littered with exploding pumpkins”, created by Art Pass Contest winners, Tim Johnson and Alex Kreeger.
It’s clearly going to be an interesting inclusion, what with that old dead Mr Mann causing trouble in a way TF2 hasn’t seen before. New achievements, new hats, new taunt…..its hard to count it all.
The event will last from 27th October until 8th November. You can find more information on official TF2 Scream Fortress update page.
Valve Software today confirmed that the technology behind the user-generated virtual item store found in Team Fortress 2 is now part of the company’s Steamworks tool suite.
The inclusion of the tech means that third-party publishers and developers using Steamworks have a framework for implementing virtual storefronts in their games. Steamworks also includes matchmaking, beta-testing, metrics tracking and other tools for developers.
Valve added the “Mann Co. Store” to its popular multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 in late September. The storefront introduced to the game the sale of virtual items, which includes a handful of user-generated pieces.
The company revealed today that five developers of the initial round of user-generated content made between $39,000 and $47,000 in royalties from the sales of the items. Valve gives 25 percent of the revenues to the creators.

Good news for the owners of the Blood Bowl and Blood Bowl Dark Elves Edition. In October, 30% discount will be available for those owners when they are purchasing digital edition of new Blood Bowl Legendary Edition.
Here is the press release from the Blood Bowl official website:
Releasing Blood Bowl was not easy. At the beginning, only a few people believed that the video game transposition of Games Workshop’s board game would find its audience. Despite several warnings from different publishers around the world, we, at Focus and Cyanide, were absolutely convinced that a Blood Bowl video game could attract gamers. In the end, hundreds of thousands of players got themselves a copy of Blood Bowl, either in stores or via digital downloads. The game even topped international charts in France, Germany, England and Spain. Blood Bowl was also a huge digital hit.
Encouraged by these tremendous results and by some players’ regrets concerning the races we chose to include, it made sense for us to offer the version that we wanted it to be from the start including more resources, more stadiums, 20 playable races, more Star Players and wild cheerleaders. In short, a version that would pack all of Blood Bowl in a single game… A Legendary Edition !
In order to thank as best as we can a large part of the community for the enthusiasm and support we received, we decided to put in place a special offer that, as far as we know, has never been done for a video game. We will let each owner of a Blood Bowl game (Standard or Dark Elves Edition) benefit from an exceptional 30% discount on the downloadable version of Blood Bowl Legendary Edition. All you have to do is to get your Blood Bowl player key (Standard or Dark Elves Edition) and enter it in the special store section that we’ll put online during the month of October. The Legendary Edition will be available around October 28!
The average price of Blood Bowl Legendary Edition on download should be about 40 US Dollars.
